Run Pro Tools Le 8 Without Hardware

Digi, It is ridiculous that I cannot run my Pro Tools LE rig on the road with a hardware interface. I am so tired or carrying iLok and Mbox2 micro. It would be great you made an option that could be licensed by ilok to run PT without Digi Interface. I own the Digi Factory 003, MBOX 2 Pro, MBOX Micro. This is just one of the reason why I keep steering myself over to Apple Logic Pro Studio 9.

They have definitely closed the Gap and No special interface required. I said this in the past and will say it again.

You will look market share if you don't adopt. I can understand iLok for certain plugins but not for simple stuff like Smack LE, Transfuser, OMF and Track count should should be included by default. Come on digi. Get it together.

What sort of rig are you running on the road that you don't need an interface? If its purely just fox mixing with cans on the road then fair enough but i can't think of much else without a proper interface. I just doing basic editing and Mixing on Cans. The Mac Book Pro audio interface provides similar specs the MBOX Micro which is a a play back device only.

It's bad enough traveling with my iLok but to have to travel with an external interface just to listed is crazy. I don't really care if Digi charges extra for this or make it avail via iLok for users who own Digi's interfaces. I record on a Digi 003 Factory at my Studio.

I use an MBOX 2 Pro when visiting other producers for tracking. Most of the time and travel and edit and just need playback.

I use Apple Logic, Reason, etc and they all work without any additional hardware. I have made a lot of investment in Digi's products which is why I am asking for this feature. Please don't take this the wrong way, but: to Digi's defense here.

It's not like this has only happened recently. You KNEW this when you bought in to the Protools world - YOU made the choice to buy software that REQUIRES hardware to run. I think it is unfair to have a go at Digi about this. You should have thought twice before you made the purchase. Unfortunately, even if you do decide to move to another platform, that won't change Digi's mind about this issue. And there are plenty of people who accept it for what it is.

Hardware

Can it be annoying? Is there a platform that doesn't have annoying things about it?

Would like the opportunity to use Pro Tools without being tied to Digidesigns hardware solutions!

From an entry level standpoint there's a lot of sound cards/interfaces with much better sound/usability/compatibility out there! The truth is; there are currently NO cracked copies of Pro Tools out there. If you want to run PT, you HAVE to have the hardware or it doesn't work. It's basically the most successful copy-protection solution yet devised - why would Digi honestly want to change that? It's very similar to Apple's strategy; you need their computers to run OSX. People always complain that they should be able to put together their own systems and that Apple are wrong to fence you in to their hardware selection, but it gives them the advantage of offering a more stable and easily supported solution, where the hardware and software are integrated and supported by one company. There are some disadvantages, but these are all available to you when you purchase the system - if it's not right for you then buy something else.

You do have the option of using M-Audio gear as well remember, which provides a greater range of devices. The Micro is pretty portable if you ask me. It would be nice if you could put your iLok licenses on it though so it handled that function too.
